Four bosses are confirmed in official material so far. Afreet and Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers are documented encounters in the free First Bite Demo. Wyvern has a dedicated director-commentary gameplay video, and Surtr R.S., one of the Four Generals, appears in later official footage that explicitly states his fight is not in the demo. Not every named story character is a demo boss, and a complete ordered boss list has not been published.
Confirmed boss roster
The table below lists every boss we could verify, with where it appears and its source. It covers confirmed fights only. Characters who appear in the story but have no documented boss encounter are not included.
Boss order through the campaign has not been published. We list the fights in the order official material revealed them, not their order in the game. Phase counts, resistances and drops are also unverified.
Gematsu's demo report, GPTRACK50's announcements and the official Steam news page are the main sources behind the roster. Each entry links back to them in the sources below. If sources disagree in the future, we will show both.
| Boss | In the demo? | Where it is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Afreet | Yes | Gematsu demo coverage; official second-trailer boss-battle section |
| Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers | Yes | Gematsu demo coverage |
| Wyvern | Not confirmed | Official director-commentary gameplay video; second-trailer boss-battle section |
| Surtr R.S. | No | Official Surtr R.S. video and Steam announcement |
Afreet
Afreet is one of the two boss encounters Gematsu names in the First Bite Demo. GPTRACK50's second-trailer announcement on June 10, 2026 also features Afreet in its official boss-battle section. That makes it one of the best-documented fights in the game. You can face it yourself for free before launch.
Attack-by-attack tactics have not been verified from inspected footage or playtesting. We therefore do not publish phase thresholds or a step-by-step strategy. The general combat basics still apply: bite to recover health, use the Stupid Parry and switch Styles to suit the fight.
If you beat Afreet in the demo, your save data can carry into the full game. Transfers between different platforms have not been confirmed. The demo is a free download on both PS5 and PC.
Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers
Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers is the second boss encounter Gematsu names in the First Bite Demo. It is part of the opening content, which covers approximately the first two hours of the full game. Like Afreet, it can be fought for free on PS5 and PC.
No verified breakdown of its attacks has been published. We do not list weaknesses or rewards for this fight. If you want to study it, the demo itself is the most reliable source.
Remember that the demo build received a targeting update in September 2026. Footage recorded before that may show different camera behavior. Check the date of any boss video you watch.
Wyvern
Wyvern has a dedicated boss-battle gameplay video with director commentary, reported by Gematsu on August 30, 2026. It also appears alongside Afreet in the official boss-battle section of the second-trailer announcement. That confirms Wyvern as a boss fight in the game.
Whether Wyvern can be fought in the First Bite Demo has not been confirmed. The demo coverage names only Afreet and Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers. Treat Wyvern as a full-game fight until evidence says otherwise.
The director-commentary video is the best available reference for this encounter. It explains the developer's intent rather than offering a tested strategy. We will add tactics once they can be verified.
Surtr R.S. and the Four Generals
Surtr R.S. is one of the Four Generals named on the official roster. GPTRACK50's Surtr R.S. video, published on September 28, 2026, identifies him and states that this encounter cannot be fought in the demo. The matching Steam announcement says the same.
The other Four Generals are Dragul, Takiyasha-Hime and Wolfgang. GPTRACK50's September demo announcement profiles all four. Being named as a General does not confirm when or how Davy fights each of them.
We only list a character as a boss once a fight is documented. That is why Dragul, Takiyasha-Hime and Wolfgang are not in the roster table yet. They will be added as soon as their fights are documented.
General tips for boss fights
Without verified attack patterns, the safest advice comes from documented mechanics. Davy has no conventional dodge roll or guard, so the Stupid Parry is his main defensive tool. The parry can still cause damage, so do not treat it as a perfect block.
Bite connects attacking with recovery, since hands-on coverage describes biting enemies to recover health. Staying aggressive is part of how Davy survives. Switching Styles lets you adapt when a fight changes.
The developers say no single Style suits every situation. A boss that punishes one form may be easier with another. An optional Combat Camera Assist, added in September 2026, can also help you track large enemies.
Preparing between attempts
If a boss stops a dive, the mall is where you prepare the next attempt. Bessie Burger unlocks Zombie Skills, and the Ink on the Brain shop handles OT Gear and Body Hack. Long-term progression also makes Davy level faster in later runs.
Body Hack gear stays functional across Style transformations. Improving equipment therefore helps in every form you use during a boss fight. Our upgrades guide explains each mall service.
Your dungeon level resets to 1 on each dive, so a failed attempt is part of the loop rather than lost progress. Our leveling guide covers what persists. It explains the difference between the dungeon level and persistent upgrades.
Watching official boss footage
Official videos are currently the best way to see bosses outside the demo. GPTRACK50's Surtr R.S. video and the Wyvern director-commentary video are both linked in the sources on this page. They show the encounters as the developers presented them before launch.
Official trailers add useful context. The Second Trailer from June 10, 2026 accompanies the announcement that featured Afreet and Wyvern in its boss-battle section. The Third Trailer from September 3, 2026 accompanies the demo announcement.
Pre-release footage can differ from the final game. Targeting and camera behavior changed in a September 2026 update, for example. Use videos to understand an encounter, not to memorize exact timings.
What is still unknown
A complete, ordered list of every boss in the game has not been published. We have not inferred one from character biographies or trailers. Resistances, phase thresholds and drops are also unverified.
We will expand this page after the October 21, 2026 launch with dated, verified information. Each new boss will be added only when a fight is documented. Strategies will come from inspected footage or our own testing.
If you have clear footage of a boss fight, you can send it through our contact page. Please include your platform and game version. Corrections and new evidence are handled first.
